Greenpeace Southeast Asia (GPSEA) is in the process of completing its strategic plan for the next three years (2014-2016). By developing a comprehensive Human Capital Strategy for managing talent, the Human Resources Director will play a key role in enabling us to achieve our goals and make a real impact in this region.

Key Responsibilities
Participate in all Greenpeace corporate decision making and strategy development through membership of Senior Management Team (SMT) and through close working relations with the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
In cooperation with SMT and other leaders in the organization develop then implement innovative Human Resources (HR) strategies (e.g. Human Capital Strategy, HR Strategy, Talent Management Strategy) to ensure Greenpeace Southeast Asia has the talent and skills needed to achieve their mid-term goals.
Build an effective and strong HR team with a high focus on delivery and strong motivation to lift service levels. Lead, manage, mentor and continually develop the skills and abilities of members within the team.
Lead the development of the annual / operational HR plans and budgets to address critical / strategic / significant talent / HR issues that will impact the organization and actively contribute to its overall success.
Lead the ongoing strategy development and reporting of the agreed HR elements of new 3 years plan strategy (such as: Attracting, retaining and developing high caliber staff , Developing core strategic competencies and build an internal talent pool, Ensuring a Safe working environment).
Accountable for the development and reporting of HR metrics to measure performance of the department, including the timely and accurate completion of quarterly reports for the Board, GPI, Other NROs and as required by the Chief Operating Officer / Executive Director.
Lead the development of a strong work culture and happy working environment (linked to the Greenpeace Values) which enables collaboration, open communications, accountability, transparency and high performance.
Oversee all salary and benefit related projects (e.g. salary surveys, benchmarking, salary adjustments etc).
Develop and / or revise all HR policies and procedures and ensure all GPSEA offices are fully compliant with these procedures.
Develop and / or revise personnel management policies in accordance with the spirit and values of Greenpeace.
Responsible for positioning GPSEA in the people marketplace as the NGO employer of choice in the region.
Develop and maintain effective external relationships in order to ensure GPSEA stays at the forefront of the talent filed
Provide input into global Greenpeace HR strategies / processes / working groups as appropriate or requested by COO / Executive Director.

Essential Skills Required:
University degree in management and / or HR
5 years of experience in a management role, of which at least 2 years should have been at a leadership level (i.e. senior management) in a regional, national or international organisation
Working knowledge of nonprofit management, operations, personnel and HR functions
Proven ability in staff management and development and working with people from different cultures / backgrounds. Is approachable, collaborative and has a willingness to learn as well as teach.
Proven experience with strategic planning and project management
Experience of working in a cross-cultural working environment and within an international organisation
High capacity for team work, mediation and conflict resolution
Fluent in written and spoken English and ideally one language of the region (e.g. Thai or Bahasa Indonesian)
Demonstrated strategic planning and implementation skills
Pro-active personality who is results driven
